Bihar Election 2025: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav promises law to guarantee one government job per family in 20 months

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday announced a major employment promise ahead of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. He said that if the Mahagathbandhan, led by his party, forms the next government, it will enact a law to ensure that every family in the state has at least one member in government service.

In a post on X, Yadav wrote, “Under economic justice, we have made a historic and transformative announcement today. Every family in Bihar that does not have a government job will be mandatorily provided with a job through a new act.”



Tejashwi Yadav stated that the proposed legislation, called the “Special Job-Employment Act,” would be introduced within 20 days of the formation of a new government. Under this, families without a member in government service would receive one within 20 months.

He criticised the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, saying, “For 20 years, this government has failed to provide jobs and employment. As soon as our government is formed, within 20 days we will enact a law and ensure that every family gets a job within 20 months.”

When asked whether the promise of government jobs for all such families is realistic, Yadav said, “Had this not been possible, Tejashwi would not have said it. All that is needed is willpower; we have that. We have vision.”

He added that the plan was based on research and available records. “We have studied this scientifically, we have data of all such families on the basis of our survey. If we are making this announcement, it is my pledge that we are doing only what is possible.”

Rejecting criticism that the announcement was political rhetoric, Yadav said, “This is not ‘jumlebaazi’, we are not cheating anyone. I think we don’t need to give proof. Tejashwi does not announce without studying it, without scientific research.”

The Bihar Assembly elections will see the NDA, led by the BJP and JD(U), face the INDIA bloc, which includes Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD, the Congress, the CPI (ML) led by Dipankar Bhattacharya, the CPI, the CPM, and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).

Political strategist Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj has also entered the fray, declaring it will contest all 243 Assembly seats.

The Election Commission has announced that voting will be held in two phases, on November 6 and November 11, while counting is scheduled for November 14.
